How does laser treatment work?

The laser works by generating heat and targets the hair’s melanin, destroying the hair follicle (the root) without affecting the surrounding skin.

To perform the treatment, we apply a conductive gel on the previously shaved skin, which makes it easier to use the laser while preventing the skin from overheating and avoiding possible discomfort.

The exact number of sessions is unknown. As a guideline, women need around 8 or more sessions, and men need around 10 or more. However, the number of sessions can vary for both women and men, as different factors influence it, such as age, hormones, the skin type…

What should we keep in mind about laser hair removal?

When we want to get laser hair removal, we need to keep certain parameters in mind. It is important to shave the day before with a razor or depilatory cream, and we should avoid sun exposure 3 days before and 3 days after the session.

During the treatment, we cannot use hair removal methods that pull the hair out from the root, such as waxing, tweezing, or electric epilators, and we should also avoid bleaching the hair.

When we go to our laser session, we should arrive without creams, deodorant, or makeup. It is also essential to inform the specialist if we have any illness or are taking any medication.

Results are seen from the first session. After the session, hair grows normally, and after about 10–15 days, it will start to fall out, leaving patchy treated areas. Any remaining hair will weaken and be removed in the following sessions.
